Viva Las Vegas

My sisters and I wanted to do something special for my Mom's 60th birthday this year.  We talked on and off for months trying to plan something.  We finally decided on a girls trip to Vegas to see Celine Dion.  We all really like her!  We booked our flights and hotel and couldn't wait to surprise her on her birthday.  Well, about 10 days before the big surprise, guess what happens?  The poor thing is walking into the hospital (ironic, huh!?) for an appointment and falls on the curb and hurts her ankle!  My first thought, hope she's okay and that it's just a minor sprain.  Second thought, what about Vegas?  She had no idea we were going and I wasn't even sure she would be able to go.  Well, turns out it was a bad break!  Her ankle was completely dislocated, she broke her tibia and pulled all of the tendons.  She would need surgery!  Uh oh!  We decided to go ahead with the surprise and let her decide if she felt up to going.  A week before the trip us girls met over there and told her.  I think she was excited and disappointed all at the same time.  Excited at the thought of a fun trip with all of her daughters.  Disappointed that she had a broken ankle!  She decided that she still wanted to go, so we made all of the arrangements to get her around in a wheelchair.  I'm so glad we still went.  We had a blast!  Heather met us there too!  I'm sure we wore my Mom out dragging her around the casino, to eat, shop, and see the concert.  The concert was really good, by the way!  We all loved it!  Just lots of fun memories.  We laughed a lot!  Morgan won lots of money.  That's the first time we have done a girls trip.  Now we want to do one every year (or two)!  My Mom said she loved it and I'm sure glad.  If anyone deserves it, it's her!  She does so much for everyone else.  She's such a wonderful Mom.  Happy 60th Birthday!  Don't mind all of our crappy camera phone pictures.

Sorry to all my G-Rated readers...

I laugh every time I look at this photo!  We kept forgetting to turn my Mom around in her wheelchair when we stopped.  We had to take this photo because it was hilarious.  Sorry, Mom!

Good times!

Happy Easter 2013

Hi!  I bet you all thought that I gave up on my blog (since most of you have!).  It just seems like every year January and February are so blah that there is nothing to blog about.  Luckily, March was a little more exciting and Easter weekend was full of family fun, so here we go!  Saturday we went to my parent's house and let the kids color eggs and do an Easter egg hunt.  The hunt was a success!  Swimsuits, bubbles, and treats.  Jeffrey was excited about his new Hero Factory guy.  Hannah loved her cute little bunny Barbie.  Grayson and Afton had fun running around with each other too!

Later that night, we were invited to a "reveal" party for Madi and Nick.  Not only are they getting married in May, but they are also expecting a baby in September.  They invited close family and friends to find out what they are having...IT'S A GIRL!  Everyone is excited, especially Hannah!  She was really hoping for a girl.  She told Madi awhile back without hesitation that if it was a girl her name should be Rosie.  We'll see if they go for that!  Congrats Madi and Nick!

The kids were excited to wake up and see that the Easter Bunny visited our house.  They had fun digging through their baskets to find lots of goodies and some new clothes.  The Easter bunny also hid a little toy for them outside.  We spent the rest of the day with Jeff's family.  We enjoyed dinner and another Easter egg hunt for the kids.  They got loads of little treats.  I just love watching all of the cousins play.  They are always so excited to see each other.  We had a great weekend.  Happy Easter!

Fun at Grandma and Grandpa's House...
