All About Grayson

Grayson had his first (and hopefully last!) trip to the E.R. last week.  He had been sick with a cold for about a week or so but I thought he was starting to feel better.  However, on Tuesday he started coughing and on Wednesday it got worse.  He just seemed so miserable and before we put him to bed we could tell he was having a hard time breathing.  Well, we watched him and it just got worse.  He was wheezing and his breathing was very labored.  We decided I should take him to the E.R. around 1:00 AM.  I'm so glad I did!  He wasn't getting enough oxygen.  They did a chest x-ray and put him on oxygen.  They also suctioned his nose and gave him a breathing treatment to see if it would help.  It didn't really help so they decided to keep him there.  In the mean time, my Mom came to the rescue so Jeff could come to the hospital.  Once they put him in a room, they drew some blood and prepped him for an IV.  Don't get me started on that!  Why can't they EVER get an IV in right the first time!?  Jeff was seriously so pissed that he had to leave the room or he might have said something or punched someone.  The rest of the night was spent watching him.  Well, it turns out that he had pneumonia in his right lung.  Thursday was spent giving him fluids and antibiotics through and IV.  We were told they would like him to stay one more night.  Thankfully, it was a much better night.  They did another IV antibiotic treatment and then we were able to go home.  Considering the circumstances, Grayson was such a trooper.  I'm just glad that we caught it early and that it wasn't something worse.  Hopefully, with rest and more antibiotics he will feel better in no time.

I feel like I don't post nearly enough about my little Gray.  He is almost 17 months old!  When I took him in for his 15 month check up (that's how behind I am!) he weighed 21 lbs. 8 oz. and was 33 inches tall.  He's kind of a tall, skinny little dude.  He's still drinking formula because he doesn't really like milk.  He still doesn't sleep well at night.  He fusses a lot!  He usually takes one good nap during the day.  He's not that great of an eater.  I have a really hard time figuring out what to feed him.  I feel like I am giving him the same old stuff every day.  Any suggestions?  He makes big messes, but he also loves putting things away.  He always throws trash in the garbage (and lots of other things!).  Hannah started building little forts for him with pillows.  She would put a bunch of toys in there for him to play with.  Now he loves to try and do it by himself.  Jeffrey and Hannah are both so good with him.  He just adores them!  He always wants to go outside.  He loves using the hose and watering everything.  He doesn't like taking baths or swimming.  He still loves his binky and gets excited when he has 2 or 3 to trade off.  He loves playing hide-and-seek and will walk around the house "counting" while he looks for the kids.  He is the cutest baby dancer I have ever seen.  You should see his moves!  He is starting to say a lot more words.  Some of my favorites are binky, cracker, cookie, uh-oh, more and all done. We just love this little guy!

First Day of 1st Grade!

Jeffrey couldn't even sleep the night before his first day.  He woke up several times during the night and was good and up by 6:30 AM.  He said he was excited and nervous.  I'm not sure how, considering the fact he was up at the crack of dawn and I was up soon after, but we were still rushing to get him there on time.  I snapped a quick picture at home before we left and one in his classroom when we got there.  Luckily, I took the camera when I picked him up and was able to get a few more of him and his friends.  He was so cute when he came out.  He said he loved it!  Lunch was so good!  He loved recess!  Him and his friends had already planned a meeting at 5:30 at his friend Dawson's house.  Um, how cute is that!?  Unfortunately, that meeting never took place, but they did have a quick meeting by the relocatables the following day.  He told me they play tag at recess and chase the girls.  He raves about lunch every day.  I'm proud of him because I wouldn't touch school lunch when I was his age.  I brought cold lunch from home.  I even cried once at school because I had to eat it...ha!  Anyway, I'm just so glad that he likes school.  I think some days he feels that it's a bit too long.  I don't blame him.  I think it's long too and I miss him every day.  He's such a good kid though and any teacher is lucky to have him.
